Biography


Christophe Berruex graduated with honors from the Zurich University of the Arts with a Master of Arts in Specialized Music Performance as a soloist in piano.

He studied with the Chilean pianist Edith Fischer - a student of Claudio Arrau – and with Konstantin Scherbakov at the Zurich University of the Arts in Zurich, amongst others.

He studied music pedagogy and piano pedagogy in Neuchâtel, Fribourg, Barcelona, Rostock and Zurich. His pedagogical work with gifted children and young people at the Zakhar Bron Music School in Zurich and at the Swiss Music School in Zug and Zurich deserves special mention. 

He has participated in numerous master classes with world-acclaimed musicians like Paul Badura Skoda and Zoltan Kocsis.

As a soloist with orchestra, he has performed works such as the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Béla Bartók, the Piano Concerto No. 3 by Ludwig van Beethoven and the Concerto No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff under the direction of Nicolas Farine, Thomas König, Christfried Göckeritz, Marc Kissoczy and Marc Tardue, and the Concerto in D major by Joseph Haydn, the latter with the Musikkollegium Winterthur conducted by Marc Tardue.

Christophe Berruex has participated in numerous piano competitions, including the Concorso Ettore Pozzoli, the Concorso di Verona, the Concorso Viotti in Italy, the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Holland, and the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Hamamatsu, Japan.

He won first prize at the Pietro Argento Piano Competition in Bari, first prize at the Eugènia Verdet Piano Competition, and reached the quarterfinals of the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition.

Christophe has performed at the Tonhalle Zurich, the Stadthaus Winterthur, the Grosser Saal of the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, the Barocksaal Rostock and the Salle de Musique en La Chaux-de-Fonds, amongst others.
